The can is easy, but this is better.  The house will smell good, you will seem like a culinary badass when the sauce shows up at the table.  Plus, the leftovers are great baked into a yummy coffeecake or served over vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tablespoon crystalized ginger
  • 1 orange – zest and juice
  1. Put everything in a medium pot.  Bring to boil over medium flame, stirring occasionally.  Cook for 10 minutes.  Let cool slightly, remove the cinnamon stick and star anise.  Serve warm or cold!
