I like crunchy, savory foods. Dessert is great, of course, but more of a special occasion thing for me. Savory, is what breakfast, lunch and dinner is made of. This granola recipe is just a starting point. Add nuts or fruits, replace the cayenne with cinnamon and you have a traditional sweet granola. Put in 2 egg whites instead of one and you get bigger clusters. Rock the garnish world with crunchy, healthy granola in your grain bowls, soups and yogurts!
- 1 egg white, beaten with a fork
- 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- ½ cup pumpkin seeds
- ¼ cup quinoa
- ¼ cup sesame seeds
- 1 cup puffed millet
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Kosher salt, freshly cracked black pepper and cayenne to taste
- Preheat the oven to 350*
- Mix everything thoroughly in a large bowl. Spread it out on a baking sheet and pop into the oven for 20 minutes. Take out of the oven, cool to room temperature and munch away!
- Store it covered for up to 1 month – I use a glass Ball Jar or zip top bag.
