I like crunchy, savory foods.  Dessert is great, of course, but more of a special occasion thing for me.  Savory, is what breakfast, lunch and dinner is made of.  This granola recipe is just a starting point.  Add nuts or fruits, replace the cayenne with cinnamon and you have a traditional sweet granola.  Put in 2 egg whites instead of one and you get bigger clusters.  Rock the garnish world with crunchy, healthy granola in your grain bowls, soups and yogurts!

  • 1 egg white, beaten with a fork
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ cup quinoa
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup puffed millet
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Kosher salt, freshly cracked black pepper and cayenne to taste
  1. Preheat the oven to 350*
  2. Mix everything thoroughly in a large bowl.  Spread it out on a baking sheet and pop into the oven for 20 minutes.  Take out of the oven, cool to room temperature and munch away!
  3. Store it covered for up to 1 month – I use a glass Ball Jar or zip top bag.
